Word & Character Counter
Write or paste your text and see the count in real time: words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading and speaking time, average word length and the most repeated words.
How each thing is counted
Words: chunks separated by spaces or line breaks. Sentences: chunks ending in a period, question mark or exclamation mark (several closing marks in a row, like "..." or "?!", count as a single ending). Paragraphs: blocks of text separated by at least one blank line. Reading and speaking time: rough estimates (200 and 130 words per minute respectively), rounded to the minute — not meant to be second-accurate.
Most repeated words
Counts how many times each word appears, case-insensitively and stripping punctuation stuck to the start or end (commas, periods, quotes...). You can exclude articles, prepositions and other very common English words ("the", "and", "of"...) so the result shows words with real content, not just the grammatically most common ones.
Privacy
The count is computed in your browser as you type. The text is never sent to Numelto.

What exactly counts as a word
Sequences of characters separated by spaces or line breaks are counted; loose punctuation marks don't count as a separate word, but a hyphen inside a compound word (like "well-being") counts as a single word.
