Clean Text & Whitespace
Paste messy text (copied from a PDF, a website or a document) and clean it up with the rules you need.
What each option does
You can turn on any combination: normalizing line breaks unifies the different styles (Windows/Mac/Unix) into one; trimming lines removes spaces at the start and end of each line; removing repeated spaces leaves at most one between words; removing duplicate blank lines leaves at most one blank line between paragraphs; and you can choose to strip tabs or convert them to spaces.
Privacy
The cleaning happens in your browser as you type. The text is never sent to Numelto.
Typical problems with copied text
After cleaning you can sort the lines, remove duplicates or count the words.
- Line breaks mid-sentence when copying from a PDF.
- Repeated spaces or trailing spaces at line ends.
- Tabs that misalign columns.
What exactly each option removes
You can strip double spaces, repeated blank lines, leading/trailing spaces on each line, or normalize Windows vs. Unix line breaks separately — turn on only the ones you need so you don't lose formatting you actually wanted to keep.
