Peru Severance Indemnity (CTS) Calculator

Peru · Employment

Calculate your CTS (severance indemnity, Compensación por Tiempo de Servicios) in Peru under the general private labor regime: how much you're owed for a full semester or for months and days. Includes the family allowance, variable payments, and 1/6 of the last bonus in the computable compensation.

Gross monthly base compensation, before deductions.

If you receive it, it's added to computable compensation (113 with the 1,130 RMV).

Commissions, regular bonuses, or overtime: monthly average of the last 6 months.

Excluding the extraordinary bonus add-on. A sixth of this amount is added to computable compensation.

E.g. 05/01 or 11/01, or your hire date if it's later.

How is it calculated?

CTS = computable compensation ÷ 12 × full months + computable compensation ÷ 360 × days. Computable compensation is your base compensation, plus the family allowance if you receive it (10% of the RMV, 113 with the current RMV of 1,130), plus the monthly average of regular variable payments, plus 1/6 of the last ordinary bonus (excluding the extraordinary bonus). Ordinary deposits are made in May (for the November–April period) and in November (for the May–October period); if the employment relationship ends, the prorated CTS for the current period is paid out. This calculation applies to the general private labor regime: micro and small businesses have their own rules. This is a rough estimate, not an official calculation.

Examples

  • Full semester: compensation of 3,000 and bonus of 3,000 (May–October 2026)

Computable compensation of 3,500 (3,000 + 1/6 of the bonus). CTS for the semester: 1,750.

  • With family allowance, 200 in variable pay, and 3 months and 15 days

    Computable compensation of 3,865.17. CTS: 966.29 for 3 months plus 161.05 for 15 days = 1,127.34.

How CTS is calculated

CTS for a full semester equals half your computable compensation. If you worked less time, a twelfth is calculated for each full month and a 360th for each additional day.

The formula is: computable compensation ÷ 12 × full months + computable compensation ÷ 360 × days. That's why a six-month semester gives exactly half the computable salary, and five and a half months gives a bit less.

If your employment relationship ended, the current period is paid as prorated CTS within your social benefits final settlement. You can see everything together in the Peru final settlement calculator, which reuses this same calculation.

What makes up computable compensation

Computable compensation isn't just your base salary. It includes what you receive regularly and freely available; these are the components the calculator considers:

  • Monthly base compensation.
  • Family allowance, if you receive it: 10% of the RMV, that is, 113 a month with the RMV Numelto uses.
  • Regular variable payments (overtime, commissions, regular bonuses): they count if you received them for at least three months of the semester; add up what you received, divide by 6, and enter the result in the variable average field.
  • A sixth of the last ordinary bonus, excluding the 9% or 6.75% extraordinary bonus add-on. The bonus does NOT count in full.
  • The main meal allowance when the employer provides it in kind (add it to your compensation if that's your case).

When CTS is deposited

The deposit is made into the financial institution you choose. If the employment relationship ends before the deposit date, the employer pays the prorated CTS for the current period in your final settlement.

Calculation example

A full semester (May to October) with compensation of 3,000 and a last bonus of 3,000: computable compensation is 3,500 (3,000 plus a sixth of the bonus) and the semester's CTS is 1,750.

After calculating your CTS
