Image to Text (OCR)
Upload a photo or screenshot with text and turn it into editable, copyable text, in Spanish or English, without uploading the image to any server.
How it works
It uses Tesseract (via tesseract.js), an open-source text recognition engine that runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. It's not instant magic: recognizing an image can take several seconds, plus extra time the first time you use a language (its recognition data needs to download).
What kind of images work best
Printed, sharp text with good contrast and no extreme tilt gives the best results — screenshots, straight scanned documents, well-focused photos of a sign or a page. Handwriting or very blurry/angled photos give worse results — that's a limitation of the engine itself, not of this tool.
Privacy
The image never leaves your browser or gets sent to Numelto. The only thing that IS downloaded from the internet is the chosen language's data package (a few MB, the first time) — never your image or the recognized text.
