Pool Pump Power Consumption Calculator

Calculate how much it costs to run your pool's pump, based on its power, daily filtration hours, and the electricity price.

How is it calculated?

Energy (kWh) = (pump power in W ÷ 1000) × hours of use per day × number of days. Cost = energy (kWh) × price per kWh. You can calculate the recommended filtration hours with the filtration time calculator.

Examples

  • 750 W pump, 8 hours a day for 30 days, at 0.15 per kWh

Uses 180 kWh a month and costs 27.

  • 500 W pump, 6 hours a day for 30 days, at 0.18 per kWh

Uses 90 kWh a month and costs 16.20.

How much the pump consumes

Energy = power in kW × hours per day × days. A 750 W pump running 8 hours a day uses 180 kWh a month.

1 HP is about 746 W. To choose the hours, check the recommended filtration time; the same method works for any appliance in the electricity consumption calculator.
