Split CSV & Excel Files
Split a large CSV or Excel file into several smaller files: by row count, by a column's value (one file per region, category or any other value), or spread across a number of parts.
By rows, by column, or by number of parts
Splitting by rows creates fixed-size files (5,000 rows each, say) — useful when a system only accepts importing a maximum number of records at a time. Splitting by column creates one file per distinct value in that column (one file per region, for example): the number of files depends on how many distinct values there are, not on something you choose. Splitting by number of parts spreads the rows across as many files as you specify, as evenly as possible.
When to split a large file
Splitting helps when a destination system has a row limit per import, when you want to split review work among several people, or when you need a separate file per recipient or category (sending each store only its own rows from a general inventory, for example).
