Area Calculator
Calculate the area of a square, rectangle, triangle, circle, trapezoid, rhombus, parallelogram, or ellipse by picking the shape and its measurements.
How is it calculated?
Each shape uses its own formula: square = side²; rectangle = base × height; triangle = (base × height) ÷ 2; circle = π × radius²; trapezoid = ((long base + short base) ÷ 2) × height; rhombus = (long diagonal × short diagonal) ÷ 2; parallelogram = base × height; ellipse = π × semi-major axis × semi-minor axis.
Examples
A square with a 5 cm side
25 cm².
A circle with radius 4 cm
About 50.27 cm².
A triangle with base 6 cm and height 4 cm
12 cm².
Area formulas by shape
| Shape | Fields | Formula |
|---|---|---|
| Square | A = side | Area = A² |
| Rectangle | A = base, B = height | Area = A × B |
| Triangle | A = base, B = height | Area = (A × B) ÷ 2 |
| Circle | A = radius | Area = π × A² |
| Trapezoid | A = long base, B = short base, C = height | Area = ((A + B) ÷ 2) × C |
| Rhombus | A = long diagonal, B = short diagonal | Area = (A × B) ÷ 2 |
| Parallelogram | A = base, B = height | Area = A × B |
| Ellipse | A = semi-major axis, B = semi-minor axis | Area = π × A × B |
