Ecuador Thirteenth-Month Bonus Calculator
Ecuador · EmploymentCalculate your thirteenth-month pay (Christmas bonus) in Ecuador: one twelfth of the compensation you received from December 1 to November 30. You can enter the total for the period or the month-by-month amounts if your compensation varies.
How is it calculated?
Thirteenth-month pay = sum of computable compensation received in the period ÷ 12. The period runs from December 1 of the previous year to November 30 of the payment year, and if received as a lump sum it's paid by December 24. With a fixed salary and a full period, it equals one month's pay. If you didn't work the full period, it's calculated from what you actually received: the sum of compensation for the months worked ÷ 12. That's why the calculator doesn't multiply your current salary by the months worked: with variable compensation (commissions, overtime), the result changes. Computable compensation is what counts as compensation under the Labor Code; profit sharing, reserve funds, and the other bonus (décimo cuarto) are excluded. If paid monthly, you receive one twelfth of that month's compensation each month. This is a rough estimate, not an official calculation.
Examples
Full period with a fixed salary of 1,000 (total for the period: 12,000)
12,000 ÷ 12 = 1,000. Paid by December 24 if received as a lump sum.
Only three months worked, with compensation of 1,000, 1,200, and 900
Total received 3,100 ÷ 12 = 258.33 (not 1,000 × 3 ÷ 12).
