How is it calculated?
Fourteenth-month pay = 1 unified basic salary (SBU) for a full 360-day period; if you worked fewer days, SBU ÷ 360 × days worked in the period. In 2026 the SBU is 482. The periods depend on the region: Coast and Insular (Galápagos), from March 1 to the last day of February, paid by March 15; Highlands and Amazon (Oriente), from August 1 to July 31, paid by August 15. It can be received monthly (around SBU ÷ 12 each month) or as a lump sum, in a single payment. Days are counted on a 30-day-per-month commercial basis. If employment ends before the end of the period, the prorated part is paid. This is a rough estimate, not an official calculation.

Fourteenth-month pay by region
The fourteenth-month bonus equals one unified basic salary (482 in 2026) for a full period, or the part prorated to the days worked. The period depends on the region where you work.

Monthly or lump sum
If the worker requests it, it can be received monthly (around one twelfth of the SBU each month). The yearly total is the same. Keep in mind the thirteenth-month bonus as well.
