Ecuador Overtime Calculator

Ecuador · Employment

Calculate the pay for supplementary hours (50% surcharge) and extraordinary hours (100% surcharge) in Ecuador based on your monthly salary. With an 8-hour daily, 40-hour weekly schedule, the hourly rate is your salary ÷ 240.

Only to warn you if you exceed the 12-supplementary-hours-per-week limit.

How is it calculated?

Hourly rate = monthly salary ÷ 30 ÷ hours of the daily workday (with 8 hours, salary ÷ 240). Supplementary hours: those worked after the regular workday up to midnight; paid with a 50% surcharge (hourly rate × 1.5). As a general rule, they're capped at 4 hours per day and 12 per week. Extraordinary hours: those worked on mandatory rest days (Saturdays and Sundays when they're rest days), on holidays, and, within a working day, between midnight and 6 a.m.; paid with a 100% surcharge (hourly rate × 2). Pay = hours × hourly rate × (1 + surcharge). You can enter fractions of an hour (1.5 hours). General schedule: 8 hours daily and 40 weekly; special or atypical schedules have their own rules. This is a rough estimate, not an official calculation.

Examples

  • Salary of 960: 10 supplementary hours and 4 extraordinary hours in the month

    Hourly rate 4. Supplementary: 10 × 6 = 60; extraordinary: 4 × 8 = 32. Total 92.

Supplementary and extraordinary hours

The hourly rate is your monthly salary divided by 30 and by the hours of the daily workday: with 8 hours, salary ÷ 240.

With a salary of 960, the hourly rate is 4: 4 supplementary hours add up to 6.00 and 2 extraordinary hours to 8.00; total 14.00. Figures are illustrative.
