Dominican Republic Overtime Calculator

Dominican Republic · Employment

Calculate the additional pay for overtime and night hours in the Dominican Republic: hours beyond the 44-hour weekly workday up to 68 hours are paid with a minimum 35% increase, hours beyond 68 with 100%, and night hours with 15%.

The general regular workday is 44 hours weekly.

Includes regular and overtime hours.

Multiplies the result for one week.

How is it calculated?

Normal hourly rate = the period's salary ÷ the day divisor ÷ 8 hours. The divisors are those of the official Ministry of Labor calculator: 23.83 days for a monthly salary, 11.91 for biweekly, 5.5 for weekly, and 1 for daily; it's not simply divided by 30. The regular workday can't exceed 8 hours daily or 44 weekly (Art. 147). Art. 203: every hour or fraction worked beyond the workday and up to 68 hours per week is paid with an increase of no less than 35% over the normal hourly rate; hours beyond 68 per week, with an increase of no less than 100%. Art. 204: night-shift hours (between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.) are paid with an increase of no less than 15%. Total additional pay = hours at 35% × hourly rate × 0.35 + hours at 100% × hourly rate × 1.00 + night hours × hourly rate × 0.15. This is a legal minimum: agreements or contracts may set higher increases. This is a rough estimate.
