Chile Legal Bonus (Gratificación) Calculator
Chile · EmploymentEstimate your legal bonus (gratificación legal) in Chile under the Article 50 system: 25% of earned compensation, capped at 4.75 monthly minimum wages a year. This is an estimate using the current minimum wage; the final cap is known at year-end.
How is it calculated?
The law provides two systems. Article 47: the employer distributes 30% of the company's net profits among employees, proportionally to what each earned; this can't be calculated from a single employee's data. Article 50 (the one most companies use and the one this tool calculates): the bonus is 25% of the year's earned monthly compensation, not exceeding 4.75 monthly minimum wages a year (prorated by months worked). With the current minimum wage of 553,553 (since May 1, 2026), the annual cap is 2,629,377, that is, 219,115 a month. Estimated bonus = the lesser of 25% of earned compensation and the prorated cap; advances already received are then subtracted. Important: Article 50's final cap is determined using the monthly minimum wage in effect on December 31 of that year, so if the minimum wage changes before then, the result may vary; that's why the calculator shows it as an estimate using the minimum wage you provide.
Examples
Compensation of 800,000 for 12 months
25% of 9,600,000 is 2,400,000, under the cap of 2,629,377: 200,000 a month.
Compensation of 1,500,000 for 12 months (the cap applies)
25% would be 4,500,000, but the 4.75 minimum-wage cap limits the bonus to 2,629,377 (219,115 a month).
Compensation of 1,000,000 for 6 months, with 100,000 in advances
Prorated cap of 1,314,688: bonus of 1,314,688 and balance of 1,214,688 after advances.

Many companies pay it monthly. To see how it affects your take-home pay, use the net salary calculator; if your contract ends, it's included in the final settlement.
