How it compares the two PDFs
It extracts the selectable text from each page of both documents and compares them word by word, matching page 1 with page 1, page 2 with page 2, and so on.
If one PDF has more pages than the other
Pages with no matching counterpart in the other document are marked directly as "page added" or "page removed", instead of being compared against a page they don't correspond to.
What this first version does NOT detect
It compares text, not visual appearance: a change in color, font or an image's exact position won't show up here if the text itself doesn't change. A visual/pixel-level comparison is a planned future improvement.
Limits
Each PDF can be up to 80 MB. Scanned documents with no selectable text (image-only) can't be compared by text — that would require OCR.
Privacy
Both PDFs are processed entirely in your browser with pdf.js. Neither one is uploaded to Numelto.
