Trip Cost Calculator
Estimate the total budget for a road trip: fuel, lodging, and food, based on the distance, nights, and number of travelers.
How is it calculated?
Fuel = (distance ÷ 100) × consumption (L/100km) × price per liter. Lodging = nights × price per night (per room). Food = daily budget per person × number of travelers × total days (nights + 1, counting the arrival day). The total is the sum of the three items.
Examples
600 km, 3 nights, 70 per night, 25 per day for food per person, 2 travelers
Estimated total budget: 469.40 (59.40 fuel + 210 lodging + 200 food).
300 km, 2 nights, 60 per night, 20 per day for food, 1 traveler
Estimated total budget: 205.58 (25.58 fuel + 120 lodging + 60 food).
How to split the budget by category
These are rough guidelines, not a rule: an adventure trip with cheap flights skews more toward activities, while a trip to an expensive, far-off destination skews more toward transport and lodging.
| Category | Rough share of the total |
|---|---|
| Lodging | 30-40% |
| Transport (flights or travel) | 20-30% |
| Food | 15-25% |
| Activities and leisure | 10-20% |
| Unexpected costs | 5-10% |
