Time Duration Calculator
Calculate how much time passes between two times of day (for example, from 08:30 to 17:15), including shifts that cross midnight.
How is it calculated?
Difference = end time − start time, in minutes, then converted to hours and minutes. If the end time is earlier than the start time (for example, from 22:00 to 06:00), the period is assumed to end the next day — mark "crosses midnight" explicitly so the calculation is correct.
Examples
A work shift from 08:30 to 17:15
8 hours and 45 minutes.
A night shift from 22:00 to 06:00 (crosses midnight)
8 hours and 0 minutes.
Use cases
A few common examples:
- Calculate how many hours a work day or shift lasts.
- Calculate the duration of a night shift that crosses midnight.
- Calculate how long a meeting, trip, or activity lasted.
