Cost Per Kilometer Calculator
Calculate how much every kilometer you drive costs you in fuel, based on your car's consumption and the fuel price.
How is it calculated?
Cost per km = (consumption in L/100km ÷ 100) × fuel price per liter. This calculation only includes fuel spending, not maintenance, insurance, depreciation, or other vehicle costs.
Examples
6 L/100km consumption, diesel at 1.65 per liter
Each kilometer costs you 0.099 in fuel.
7.5 L/100km consumption, gasoline at 1.55 per liter
Each kilometer costs you 0.116 in fuel.
How the cost per kilometer is calculated
The cost per kilometer is the consumption (L/100 km) divided by 100 and multiplied by the price per liter. A car that uses 6 L/100 km with fuel at 1.65 per liter costs about 0.099 per kilometer.
This only includes fuel. The total cost of owning a car (insurance, maintenance, taxes, depreciation) is considerably higher: calculate it with the real annual car cost calculator. If you don't know your real consumption, get it with the fuel consumption calculator.
| Consumption (L/100 km) | Cost per km | Cost per 100 km |
|---|---|---|
| 5.0 | 0.075 | 7.50 |
| 6.0 | 0.090 | 9.00 |
| 7.5 | 0.112 | 11.25 |
| 9.0 | 0.135 | 13.50 |
