Number to Words Converter
Convert any number into its written English form: plain quantities, or monetary amounts in euros, Mexican pesos or dollars, cents included, ready for a check or an invoice.
Plain number or monetary amount
In "plain number" mode, the value is spelled out as-is (123 → one hundred twenty-three). In "monetary amount" mode, the currency name is added in the correct singular or plural form, plus cents if there are any: 1,523.40 USD → one thousand five hundred twenty-three dollars and forty cents.
The English rules this tool follows
This isn't a word-for-word port of the Spanish version — it's a separate engine built for how English actually spells out numbers.
- Compound numbers from 21 to 99 are hyphenated: "twenty-one", "ninety-nine".
- "Hundred" never pluralizes as a multiplier: "two hundred", never "two hundreds".
- No "and" between the hundreds and the rest ("one hundred twenty-three"), the common convention for a tool meant for text and documents rather than being read aloud formally.
- Scale words (thousand/million/billion) don't pluralize as multipliers either: "three million", not "three millions".
- Correct singular/plural for the currency and the cents: "one dollar" vs. "two dollars".
Format for checks and invoices
Turn on UPPERCASE to get the format commonly used on checks and formal documents, where the amount in words is capitalized to make alterations harder.
