Compress PDF Without Losing Quality

Upload a PDF and reduce its size. Choose between low, balanced, or high compression depending on how much you want to prioritize size over quality.

What it actually does

It tries two strategies and keeps whichever reduces the size more without ruining the document: a structural recompression (always safe, keeps the text) and, if more reduction is needed, one that re-generates each page as an image at the chosen quality.

The important warning

If the result uses the second strategy, the final PDF will no longer have selectable or searchable text — every page becomes an image. Numelto only does this when it achieves a real size reduction; if it doesn't help, you get the document back with the safe recompression (or a note that it can't be reduced much further).

Privacy

The PDF is processed in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js. It's never uploaded to Numelto.

Which compression level to choose

PDFs with photos or scans reduce the most. If the PDF is text-only, it barely weighs anything to begin with; in that case you can remove extra pages to bring the size down.
