Chile · TaxesCalculate VAT in Chile: add 19% to a net price or extract the VAT from a price that already includes it. Chilean VAT's general rate is 19%; you can use another percentage only for custom calculations.
How is it calculated?
To add VAT to a net price: total = net × (1 + 19 ÷ 100) = net × 1.19. To extract VAT from a price that already includes it: net = total ÷ 1.19, and VAT = total − net. The general legal VAT rate in Chile is 19% (DL 825). The custom percentage option is for math exercises or special cases, but doesn't change the general legal rate. There are also exempt or non-taxable transactions with a different treatment. Results are rounded to the peso.
