Ratio Calculator
Work with A:B ratios in two ways: simplify it to its lowest terms, or split a total into two parts that keep that same ratio.
How is it calculated?
Simplify: A and B are divided by their greatest common divisor, the same as simplifying a fraction. Split a total: partA = total × A ÷ (A + B), partB = total × B ÷ (A + B) — each part gets the fraction of the total that matches its weight in the ratio.
Examples
Simplify the ratio 15:25
15:25 simplified is 3:5.
Split 800 in a 3:5 ratio
Part A: 300, part B: 500.
Two different problems, one shared concept
| Mode | What it solves | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Simplify | Reduces A:B to its simplest form | 15:25 → 3:5 |
| Split | Divides a total into two parts proportional to A:B | 800 in 3:5 → 300 and 500 |
