How is it calculated?
ONP: 13% of compensation. AFP: 10% pension fund contribution + a disability, survivorship, and burial insurance premium of 1.37% (calculated on compensation up to the maximum insurable amount, which the SBS updates quarterly) + a fee. With a fee on flow, the fee is a percentage of your compensation deducted every month (September 2026: Habitat 1.47%, Integra 1.55%, Prima 1.60%, and Profuturo 1.69%). With a mixed fee, the component on compensation is 0% (since 2023) and an annual percentage is charged on the fund balance (Habitat 1.25%, Integra 0.78%, Prima 1.25%, and Profuturo 0.68%), which isn't deducted from your monthly salary: it's shown for information only. The percentages are published by the SBS and change: check them there before deciding. Comparing fees alone isn't enough: choosing an AFP also depends on the fund's returns and your time horizon.
Examples
Compensation of 5,000 with AFP Habitat and a fee on flow
Fund 500, insurance premium 68.50, and fee 73.50: total AFP 642. Under the ONP it would be 650.
Compensation of 20,000 with Profuturo and a mixed fee
Fund 2,000 and insurance premium 173.62 (capped at the maximum insurable amount). No fee on flow: total 2,173.62.
What an AFP contribution is made up of
Under the ONP there's no premium or fee: 13% of compensation is deducted.
