Mexico Overtime Pay Calculator
Mexico · EmploymentCalculate how much you're owed for your weekly overtime: the first 9 hours are paid double, and anything beyond those 9 is paid triple.
How is it calculated?
The value of a normal hour is your daily salary divided by the maximum legal shift (8 hours for a day shift, 7 for night shift, 7.5 for a mixed shift). Of your overtime hours in the week, the first 9 are paid at double that hourly value; anything beyond those 9 is paid at triple.
Examples
Day shift, daily salary of 800, 10 overtime hours in the week
Normal hourly value: 100. 9 double hours (1,800) + 1 triple hour (300) = 2,100 additional.
How overtime is paid in Mexico
The first 9 overtime hours of the week are paid at double your hourly value, and anything beyond those 9, at triple.
The value of a normal hour is your daily salary divided by the maximum shift hours for your shift type. The law caps overtime at 3 hours a day and 3 times a week.
| Shift type | Maximum shift hours |
|---|---|
| Day | 8 |
| Night | 7 |
| Mixed | 7.5 |
How the normal hourly value is calculated
The normal hourly value comes from dividing your monthly salary (or daily × 30) by your usual monthly shift hours; on that value, double applies to the first 9 weekly overtime hours and triple to the rest, under Article 68 of the Federal Labor Law.
